《荒野生存》改编自著名作家乔恩·科莱考尔(Jon Krakauer)的散文集，是一个真实事件，说的是一个名叫克里斯多弗的男子(埃米尔·赫斯基饰)1992年大学毕业后，毅然舍弃了所有的财产，投身到阿拉斯加州的茫茫荒野中，体验回归自然的生活。四个月后，人们在一个偏僻的野营地的一辆废弃的公共汽车上，发现了他的尸体。威廉·赫特和玛西娅·盖伊·哈登分别扮演克里斯多弗的父母。
