《五子说》故事梗概由蔡志忠漫画改编而成，全篇分为五个部分《庄子说》、《老子说》、《孟子说》、《孔子说》、《孙子说》。采用夸张变形等不写实的笔法，将五人博大精深的哲学道理、处事原则、思想观念等复杂的内容，用诙谐有趣的绘画技法，简单易懂的说理方法，以讲故事为载体，通过很多有趣的小故事，比如人物故事、动物故事、山水花鸟故事、以及新编故事，灵活的表达出来。
